This is the story about the search for the strangest Porsche rally car ever, the biggest rally of the 20th century and the story of multiple Champion rally driver Sobieslaw Zasada, intertwined in a four-wheel adventure across three continents. 

’Red 58′ it’s a road movie. Using contemporary and archive footage, it uncovers the fascinating story of the world’s craziest rally event: the 1968 London-Sydney Marathon. It looks behind the scenes of the preparations for this great event, presents the challenges faced by athletes behind the Iron Curtain, and shows that enthusiasm can drive people to action even after 50 years.  

The protagonists : a filmmaker and a journalist, set out in search of the legendary car with starting number 58, in which crew Zasada/Wachowski become legends of the 1968 event, winning the Australian leg. They accompany historic rally enthusiasts in Australia speeding along the route of the 1968 rally. Find previously unpublished archive materials in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. Meet interesting people on their way, visit hard-to-reach places, and rush through Europe and Australia to uncover the mystery of the missing car. Will they find it?
